About us
Welcome to Paletta Pizzeria! First of all thanks for visiting our site and for showing an interest in our new venture!
Sara and I have designed this restaurant to offer the cool, casual dining experience that is so prevalent in major cities, to the good people of Barry and the Vale of Glamorgan.
We don’t want you to get the train or to designate a driver if you want a drink, a bowl of pasta or a sit-down pizza when you have us to look after you.
We are your local, family run Pizzeria. It is personalised, warm and friendly.
We make our own food fresh (not frozen), we use traditional cooking methods such as wood, fire and smoke (not electric ovens) and we strive to run our business as sustainably as possible. We serve craft ales brewed in Barry as well as the classic Italian wines and beers.
All are invited, couples, families, parties, even private events.
We are not a chain and we are not fine dining, your meals are ready when they’re ready. We have plenty for vegans, vegetarians and customers who suffer from allergies and food intolerances.
Furthermore, we have food and drink for all budgets and we want you to fill our benches every lunch and dinner. So come and say “hi”, fill your boots and spread the word!

Sara and Rhys
Sara and I met whilst in college studying Italian in 2003, Sara was 17 and I was 22. We got chatting and I started to work weekends at her family’s Italian restaurant on 82 High St, Barry, which was then called “Carlo’s Place”. We shared a passion for Italian culture, the restaurant was always busy and we enjoyed working together, in Barry and in Llantwit Major at Il Vesuvio. I became close to the family and the extended family in Naples and after university we got married.

We have such
fond memories of Carlo’s Place and we were so sad to see building empty that we decided to bring it back to life! Having grown up on Italian food, worked constantly under successful restauranteurs and travelled extensively around Italy we feel that we are experienced enough to run our own business.
We designed the restaurant to be as environmentally friendly as possible, using reclaimed wood for furniture, salvaged materials for décor and sustainably sourced wood for fuel. Our pizzeria is trendy but traditional, classy but reasonably priced. It is a place where we would like to eat out and we hope that you will too. Enjoy life, eat pizza!
